Phytoremediation is a plant function that degrades, eliminates, and inactivates potentially hazardous toxic compounds in the polluted water, soil, air. In phytoremediation mechanisms, phytodegrading enzymes break down pollutants taken up by plants (phytodegradation). Additionally, microorganisms found plant-related rhizosphere can also degrade soil (rhizodegradation). The extract from accumulate them their tissues (phytoextraction) or immobilise contaminants root zone, remove harmful water through transpiration into atmosphere, regulate heavy metal across system (phytostabilisation). this study, researchers characterised development aptitude of different fern species to remediate present highly weathered (i.e., laterite soil). For purpose, samples 3 sites Perak, Selangor Johor were collected. ability 4 Dicranopteris linearis, Nephrolepis bifurcata, Stenochlaena palustris Acrostichum aureum) was determined understand pattern distribution contamination soil. ICP-MS technique utilised determine concentration metals. results indicated presence high at many these sites, while Al Fe ions varied. addition, significant difference (P<0.0001) metals discovered between species. All interactions detected using Analysis variance (ANOVA) technique. considered an alternative for reducing light various factors lead accumulation Furthermore, remediation numerous are with metals, like landfills, cost-effective solution employing green technologies, phytoremediation.
